30 Most Hated Anime Characters of All Time, Ranked

Throughout the rich history of anime, a lot of characters have appeared. Some were loved, some were completely ignored, but a lot of them were also hated, either from the very start or later, because of their roles in their respective stories. In this article, we are going to talk about the latter group, as we are going to bring you a ranked list of the 30 most hated characters in the history of anime.

Franchise: Boruto

Descended from both of his powerful bloodlines, Boruto is a prodigy, considered capable of accomplishing anything he attempts in a remarkably short time. Having inherited his paternal grandfather’s genius and his father’s unpredictability, he achieved the highest mark in his class in the Genin Examinations, and is considered well above the rest of his generation.

As a genin, Boruto is considered an elite who excels in all areas of combat. His prowess proved crucial in defeating formidable opponents including Momoshiki, Urashiki, and members of Kara. His potential is also seen as a threat to the Ōtsutsuki clan.

Franchise: One Piece

Arlong is a fish-man, massive humanoid that is taller and stronger than any normal human. Arlong, however, is a very big one, even among fish-men. His power was said to be greater than Don Krieg, the strongest pirate in the East Blue.

As a Fish-Man, he is ten times stronger than an ordinary human and even stronger underwater. However, he appears to possess Super-Strength even by Fish-Man standards: he was seen raising a house with his bare hands in search of Usopp, and his powerful shark jaws are capable of bending metal, crushing stone, and ripping through the surface of meat.

He also has incredible resistance to pain: during his fight with Luffy, he knocked out many sets of his teeth, which quickly grew back, and put his broken nose back in its place without a wince. Arlong can also go into some kind of berserker mode when he gets angry. When this happens, his eyes take on an appearance similar to those of the Sea Kings. While he is in this state, both his strength and speed grow exponentially, making him much more dangerous than he already is.

Franchise: Naruto

Kabuto’s loyalty and personality are difficult to define, indeed he can be honest and courteous as he can be very sadistic, he knows how to be helpful and show humor. He likes to play with the minds of his enemies, pushing them over the edge, revealing their deep weaknesses to use them later. He does not tolerate the disrespect Sasuke Uchiha shows for Orochimaru.

The Sannin himself also often had trouble guessing the thoughts and real intentions of his right arm, like when he asked him to kidnap Sasuke, suspecting him of wanting to kill him instead of kidnapping him. He tested him by suggesting that this was the best time if he wanted to betray him. However, despite his doubts, Orochimaru relied on Kabuto and found the idea of him not obeying his orders preposterous.

Franchise: Bleach

Marechiyo Ōmaeda is the Vice Captain of the 2nd Division of the Gotei 13 and the Commander of the Guard Corps, Special Forces Detachment. He comes from a noble family of Soul Society, and has a rather haughty attitude, even sometimes a little too greedy. He loves picking his nose. He greatly admires his captain who scares him a little, however.

During the shikai, his zanpakutō takes the form of a flail (in the form of a spiked ball), which he releases by saying “Crush”. His abilities remain unknown until the Arrancar attack on the false Karakura, as he was defeated before he could even use them. His zanpakutō appears to be heavy enough to crush anyone attacked by it.

During the Battle of the Fake Karakura, he also shows that he is worthy of the 2nd Division, by performing a very fast shunpō. The special episodes depict him as a character convinced of his beauty and proud to belong to a wealthy family of high nobility.

He is very famous globally since he is the head of Germa 66 and is, therefore, one of the greatest criminals and conquerors of North Blue. His reputation allows him to still be considered a king when Germa is no longer a kingdom and allows him to influence the mentions of the Primes since he ordered the mention “Only Alive” on the wanted poster of Sanji.

As king, he can take part in Reverie. He also has authority over Germa 66 being the ruler, giving him command of a very powerful military force. He defeated four Kings of North Blue, which further demonstrates his strength. These past positions and actions made Judge a household name in the underworld.

Franchise: Soul Eater

Medusa is a witch who prefers to use snakes as weapons. Consistently scheming, she aims to free Asura to use him in her own schemes. To do this, she infiltrates both Shibusen and ruthlessly abuses her child Chrona as a spy after her own cover as a school doctor is blown.

Franchise: Naruto

White Zetsu seems to be the calmest and the most composed, even slow in certain circumstances, which makes him look a little simple or even stupid (not to be taken seriously because White Zetsu knows how to be very intelligent and very observant as during fight between Sasuke and Itachi).

He also knew how to show initiative and a strategic spirit as during the summit of the kage where his brief appearance allowed him to spread his spores on all the protagonists of this assembly to allow Sasuke to escape, or at worst , to buy time by weakening his enemies while waiting for Tobi to arrive. White Zetsu presents a very childish and submissive character, being always humble.

Black Zetsu has a more complex personality than his white alter-ego. Black Zetsu is always very serious and is totally tyrannical towards White Zetsu, not hesitating to impose his choices when the two form a duo.

He even shows some very impatient sides to his personality like during the hunt for feudal lords where Black Zetsu attacked recklessly and literally “dashed” straight into a decoy and trapped lair; eye that the bodies in front of him (even standing and with their back to him) were trapped puppets from which he escaped, to them, and to the ninjas having spotted him when he rushed into a sound trap (very rude for a ninja such as Zetsu, proof once again of his overflowing impatience) very easily.

After this adventure, we could also see Black Zetsu’s pride when he was annoyed that we could have underestimated him like this.

Franchise: One Piece

Akainu, whose real name is Sakazuki, is initially one of the three Navy admirals and later Grand Admiral in place of Sengoku. Cold, impassive, authoritarian, and ruthless, he harbors a visceral hatred of pirates and other criminals and is the one who most embodies the principles of absolute justice.

His loyalty does not seem to be directed to the Government itself but to the Navy and its ideal of justice, infuriated when he learns that even the Five Stars of Wisdom have been manipulated by Donquixote Doflamingo through the orders of the Celestial Dragons, towards whom he doesn’t seem to have any particular respect.

Franchise: Fullmetal Alchemist

Embodying the sin of envy, he is one of the youngest among the homunculus with 175 years of existence. It usually comes in an androgynous form with long green / black hair. This does not mean much because he is a shapeshifter who adopts the appearance of anyone to his advantage (he cannot however change his weight, which remains considerable: the ground sinks several centimeters when ‘he stamps his foot and the metal bends under his weight).

Perhaps the most flamboyant of the homunculi, he reveled in the struggles between humans. It is he who, in the form of an officer of the Amestris army, kills an Ishbal maiden and starts the Ishbal war. Its true form (which is discovered when swallowed by Gluttony with Edward and Lin) is that of an 8-legged monstrous beast with a long reptilian tail, with a body and head formed from the desperate figures of the souls that form its philosopher’s stone. In this form, his left eye is multiple, with 8 pupils.

Franchise: Dragon Ball

As an adult, Danzō changed his demeanor and became a calm and thoughtful individual who, like the members of the Root who were under his command, refrained from letting his emotions show. Danzō’s beliefs differed from those of the Hokage in that he was convinced that the interests of the village were above all, including above notions of ethics and morals.

An extremist, Danzō preferred to eliminate threats directly, not hesitating to assassinate or execute rather than trying to negotiate and use diplomacy. He showed fanaticism toward the ideal that a ninja should sacrifice absolutely everything for the good of his village.
