Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero poster features Gohan, Gotenks, and others

The latest chapter of the Dragon Ball Super anime franchise will be released this summer. Gohan and Piccolo join forces once more to combat the sinister schemes of the newest edition of the Red Ribbon Army.

With only a few weeks until the film reaches Japanese cinemas, the Shonen film is releasing fresh marketing materials to get fans excited. This offers us new glimpses at not only the aforementioned protagonists, but also Gotenks as well as the other supporting characters who will make their comeback here.

DBS Chronicles a Twitter user provided the new Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero poster. This poster looks to represent the core cast of the next film. The film was postponed from April to June of this year due in part to a ransomware incident directed at Toei Animation:

Additionally, Twitter user DBS Hype gave a whole fresh look at Gotenks. This is the fusion formed when Goten and Trunks successfully or unsuccessfully perform the fusion dance:

We have gotten a lot of information on the Gohan and Piccolo-centered movie. There are still a lot of details that have yet to be disclosed.

For instance, we have yet to see the teenage Gotenks in animation. This is despite the fact that there have been several photographs confirming not only do Goten and Trunks do the fusion dance, but they do it ineptly, resulting in a balloon-sized fused creature.

Given that this Gotenks version is unlikely to beat Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, the two new androids created by Dr. Hedo of the Red Ribbon Army, it’ll be intriguing to see what this merged fighter has in store.

Toei Animation originally put Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero on indefinite hold after it was set to release in Japan in April (and then in North America later this summer).

Following the ransomware incident, the launch date has been pushed back to June. The whole trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, showcases all of the different types of battles in action. Notably, it provides a closer look at the franchise’s new CGI animation approach. The latest trailer is available below:

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is described as such by Toei Animation:

“Dragon Ball Super: Broly was a mega-hit with worldwide box office revenue of 13.5 billion yen. 4 years later, in 2022, a new movie in the Dragon Ball Super series has finally arrived with an even greater ‘awakening’! The Red Ribbon Army, an evil organization that was once destroyed by Goku in the past, has been succeeded by a group of people who have created new and mightiest Androids ever, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2.”

This is the portion of the story that fans could gather from the last teaser trailer, however the juicy tease follows:

“They call themselves ‘superheroes’ and begin to attack Piccolo, Gohan, and others…What is the true purpose of the ‘new Red Ribbon Army’? With danger looming around the world, now is the time to wake up! Awaken, Super Hero!!”

One of the most popular theories surrounding Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is that Cell will be revived in the film. This is owing to his links to the Red Ribbon Army. Also, a mystery large capsule seen in the trailers, which might have the Dragon Ball Z villain within it.

Which Z-Fighter in this film are you most excited to see? Let us know in the comments.
