The production of Dropkick on My Devil! X was helped by contributions from four cities in Japan. Donations were acquired through the “Hometown Tax” system where people from Japan can donate through the system to specific towns to help various projects (such as animes) come to fruition with the incentive that if the project takes off they may get a special item related to the project (such as a bookmark, stuffed animal, etc). The city of Hokkaido raised 184 million yen (1.7 million US) for the second season of Dropkick on My Devil!
The story is set in a world filled with demons, angels, and other otherworldly creatures. When a human witch named Yurine Hanazone summons a lamia “snake demon” from Hell things get complicated. Jashin, the lamia, is unable to find a way back to Hell, and angrily spends her days trying to kill Yurine with a fierce dropkick in order to force her to send her back home.
In a fit of pique, Jashin also writes Yurine’s name down in a black book, which she calls her “Death NOT”. Yurine and Jashin encounter various beings from Heaven and Hell during their antics, including someone named Pino, who possesses a dangerous weapon.
