Both anime were inspired by Tanishi Kawano’s Yubisaki kara no Honki no Netsujo: Charao Shoboshi wa Massugu na Me de Watashi wa Daita manga series. Tanishi Kawano both wrote and illustrated the manga, which was serialized in September 2018 on Screamo under their Zettai Ryoiki R! label. The chapters were collected into five volumes by Suiseisha under the Clair TL Comics imprint. In September 2019, the manga’s English version for North American release was licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment’s adult imprint Ghost Ship.

The story centers on 24-year-old female office worker Ryo Fujihashi whose childhood friend Souma Mizuno happens to be a handsome firefighter. Ryo decides to try and hook Souma up with one of her co-workers only for the date to end horribly.

Ryo suspects that Souma’s womanizing ways were the problem, however, she’s way off the mark about Souma’s true feelings. When Ryo’s apartment catches on fire Souma rushes to her rescue and then offers her a place to stay.

Ryo later learns that Souma has been secretly in love with her for a long time and their relationship begins to grow more complicated.

In May 2019, it was announced at ComicFesta that an anime adaptation was in production with the title Yubisaki kara Honki no Netsujo: Osana Najimi wa Shoboshi (which literally translates to: Fire in his Fingertips: My Childhood Friend is a Firefighter). The anime aired in Japan on Tokyo MX from July 8 to September 1, 2019.

Studio Hokiboshi produced the anime. Directing the shorts was Toshihiro Watase. Tombo wrote the series’ script and Katsuyuki Sato was the animation director.

The theme song is titled “Blazing Luv!!” And the voice actors for Souma, Yuki and Jun sing the song under the group name Sakuragaoka Fire Brigade. In the adult version the same song is sung by the different cast for Souma, Yuki and Jun under the group name Tri Fighter. The cast and staff reprised their roles in the second season, which aired from July 5 to August 23, 2021.

You can watch all of Fire in His Fingertips anime shorts in Japanese on the official Anime Festa YouTube Channel, and then once the English dub comes out you will understand what they were saying! Don’t worry this version is the one for general audiences!

ComicFesta’s anime series usually have two versions that are produced with different cast members. The first standard version is for television broadcast to a wider audience.

The Fire in His Fingertips uncensored version is the spicy one for mature adults. The second adult version includes sexual content for mature audiences and for streaming on ComicFesta Anime’s website.
