‘Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045’ Released Teaser Trailer, OP and ED Artist, May Debut

The 1st season of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, a Japanese original net animation (ONA), premiered exclusively on Netflix two years ago on April 23rd. The web anime is based on Masamune Shirow’s 1980s manga Ghost in the Shell. On Thursday, February 24th, Netflix uploaded the teaser trailer for the ONA’s 2nd season. 

The short video confirmed the upcoming web anime’s main staff, returning staff, and opening and closing theme songs. In addition, the anime is set to premiere on Netflix worldwide this May.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 takes place in the year 2045, a dark and intense time when a neverending war ravages the world. Protagonist Motoko Batou, alongside other members from Public Security Section 9, fights as a mercenary for the group “GHOST.” Thanks to their cybernetic enhancements and fighting experience, the team is able to carry out dangerous missions against their enemies.

Millennium Parade will be singing both the opening and ending theme songs for the web anime’s 2nd season. The OP is entitled “Secret Ceremony,” while the ED is called “No Time to Cast Anchor.” Millennium Parade also sang the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 season one opening song. 

Daiki Tsuneta from Millennium Parade shared his thoughts on the upcoming 2nd season of the science fiction anime. He says that the anime as a whole is very special to him and that he’s thrilled to be part of the new season. He considers the original Ghost in the Shell animation a milestone in Japanese animation. He ends his statement by saying “Tadaima,” which translates to “I’m home” in English.

Some of the returning cast members include Atsuko Tanaka as Motoko Kusanagi, Akio Ohtsuka as Batou, Koichi Yamadera as Togusa, Yutaka Nakano as Ishikawa, and a whole lot more. The directors of the web anime’s 1st season, Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki will again handle the sequel season. The project is produced by Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts Studios.
