Kill la Kill anime voice actress Saki Nitta dead at age 31

The talent agency 81 Produce recently announced that their voice actress, Saki Nitta, had passed away on the sixth of February, 2022 at the age of 31 from a meningioma, a tumor typically found in the brain or spinal cord.

Her hobbies and talents were making balloon art and collecting food models according to Oricon.

Born in Tomakomai, Hokkaido in 1991, Saki Nitta’s career started in 2010 through a role in Cosplay☆Animal’s radio drama. She graduated from the Amusement Media Academy’s Voice Actor training program in 2011, and was picked up by the talent agency 81 Produce in 2013. She then spent the next ten years in the voice acting industry, working on over 90 credited projects in the Japanese media industry on a wide array of projects and titles.

Those projects included anime, movies, OVAs, web-animated series, games, drama CDs, BL CDs, and radio dramas. She also worked in Japanese dubbing on movies such as The 9th Life Of Louis Drax and Coco, Korean dramas such as Accident Couple and 100 Days My Prince, games such as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Twisted Wonderland, and on the dubs for Young Justice and Sofia The First as standouts among a long and storied career history.

Along with these, she also acted in television dramas and movies, provided narration for documentaries, provided voice over work for Japanese TV shows, and acted on stage in a variety of productions.

She was known for her wide range of career voice acting roles, including some on Kill La Kill, Pokemon Black & White, Pop Team Epic, Magi: Adventure of Sinbad, Kiznaiver, and Space Patrol Luluco.

She was best known for her history in voicing a sizeable amount of background characters, but she also voiced Pakuri from Kill la Kill, Tsubaraya in MAJOR SECOND Season 2, Bridget Faye, and Cache Dop from D. Gray-man Hallow, and young Shunsuke Imaizumi from Yowamushi Pedal.

On her agency’s site, they wrote the following regarding her passing:

“Saki Nitta, an actor that we represent through our agency, passed away on February 6, 2022 from a meningioma. In accordance with the wishes of the family of the departed, the funeral service was limited to direct relatives of the family only. We would like to express our deepest gratitude and thanks for your kindness and support during her lifetime.”
