Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer anime release date set in Summer 2022

Today, I learned about Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. The hammer is a lie. It has nothing to do with biscuits. I looked it up but feel free to correct me in the comments.

Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer sounds like a comedy and it is, but it’s also action and adventure thrown in. Some fans have claimed it’s the next Gurren Lagaan.

The manga was all the rage during the 2000’s to 2010. Yet this is the first I’m hearing about it. And I’m glad I did because this series has something truly special.

A smart protag that quickly decides he doesn’t want the epic destiny but seeing as how he’s still being targeted. He accepts it and swears himself to the Lucifer!

According to Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer’s Twitter, the anime should come out in July 2022, the Summer 2022 anime season. The talented voice actors who will be bringing this show to life are: Junya Enoki as Yuhi Amamiya, Naomi Ohzora as Samidare Asahina, Kenjiro Tsuda as Noi Crezant, and Azusa Tadakoro as Hisame Asahina.

Satoshi Mizukami is the original creator and is working on the Series Composition with Yuuichirou Momose, and Nobuaki Nakanishi will be the director. The animation studio is still under wraps.

The manga ran from April 28, 2005, to August 30, 2010. JMANGA begin to bring the series to North America digitally in February 2012, but was sadly closed down in May 2013.

Seven Seas Entertainment would pick up the license in November 2013, while Crunchyroll added it to their digital store in September 2014, and BookWalker added it to their services on November 18, 2015.

There are 10 volumes, but Seven Seas Entertainment released the manga in 2-in-1 omnibus volumes. This means the anime will be around 10 to 12 episodes.

The overall plot is very familiar and full of tropes, but it does carry refreshing moments. Yuuhi Amamiya is your typical young college student until he woke up to find a lizard on his bed.

This lizard introduced itself as Noi Crezant, and Yuuhi has been chosen to be a beast knight and save the world. Yuuhi yeets Noi out the door and tries to go about his normal routine.

Sadly, he doesn’t have a choice and is soon attacked by a Golem. But he’s saved by Samidare Asahina, his next-door neighbor who turns out to be a princess.

Samidare tells Yuuhi that she’s the leader of the beast knights, and she needs his help to defeat a Magus that wants to use the Biscuit Hammer (that looks nothing like a biscuit) to destroy the world. But she also wants to use the Biscuit Hammer to destroy the world.

And our boy Yuuhi is okay with this. He even kneels at her feet and declares his eternal loyalty.

Satoshi Mizukami’s other works include Spirit Circle, Planet With, Trigun: Multiple Bullets, and more. One of his influences is FLCL. This brings me to something that could be the cherry on this epic cake.

The Pillows (they did the music for FLCL) have released a song called Biscuit Hammer in 2002. This would place it right when Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer manga is getting started.

Did The Pillows write this song because they like the manga? Will it end up in the anime? Or is this just a cool coincidence? I don’t know but I can’t wait to find out!
