Lycoris Recoil release date in Summer 2022, cast revealed by trailer PV

Fans of A1 Pictures will be happy to hear the Lycoris Recoil trailer has dropped. It revealed that the Lycoris Recoil release date will be in July 2022, the Summer 2022 anime season.

The trailer, which was released on the official Twitter and official website, gives fans a first look at the characters that will be featured in the upcoming original series. It also revealed several of the main voice actors attached to the project.

First announced in 2021, the series will be directed by Shingo Adachi. Fans will recognize his work from the Sword Art Online franchise, as well as countless other anime series.

Other staff working on the series include Asaura as story drafter and Imigimuru as character designer.

A1 Pictures is also the studio behind series like Kaguya Sama Love is War and the 86 anime.

Without a manga for source material, fans may be wondering just what Lycoris Recoil is about.

The trailer introduces a café and several of the employees. According to the Twitter announcement, this is “Cafe Riko Rico”, where many of the cast work.

On the official website, the story page gives viewers a bit more insight. When translated, it reads:

“Riko Rico is a Japanese-style cafe in downtown Tokyo. The cafe takes orders for not only delicious coffee and sweets! From deliveries to the nearest destination, to pick-ups and drop-offs along the lonely night streets, to zombie exterminations, to giant monsters! From zombie extermination to giant monsters! We’re here to help you with anything! We’ll solve any kind of ‘problem’ you may have!”

Sounds like viewers can expect everything from a fun slice is life, to a series with supernatural, fantasy, and even action, elements!

The trailer also gave potential Lycoris Recoil fans a chance to hear the voice actors for the first time.

Chika Anzai (Wonder Egg Priority and SSSS. Dynazenon) will play Nishikigi Senzoku, a girl “who always smiles and enjoys today from tomorrow”.

Character Inoue Takina is described as a girl “with a cool pay-for-performance personality”. She will be voiced by Shion Wakayama (Takt Op. Destiny).

Ami Koshimizu (Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro) will play Mizuki Nakahara, a café clerk who likes to read marriage magazines.

Walnut, a “runaway girl of unknown origins, will be voiced by Misaki Kuno (My Dress-Up Darling).

Finally, there is Mika, the only male character shown so far. He is described as “everyone’s parent” and will be voiced by Kosuke Sakaki (Megalobox).

According to the website, the series will premiere in Japan in July 2022. It appears Aniplex of America has licensed the series for North American release.

However, if you happen to be in Japan in June, you may be lucky enough to get a sneak peek of Lycoris Recoil. Episodes 1-3 will get an advanced screening at the TOHO Cinemas Kinshicho Rakutenchi on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

The screening will be followed by what the announcement describes as a “talk show”. Voice actors Chika Anzai (Nishikigi Senzoku) and Shion Wakayama (Takina Inoue) will both be in attendance.
