My Hero Academia: Hero League Baseball release date in Summer 2022 for original OVA episode

On May 8, 2022 it was announced that two new summery baseball-themed original episodes of My Hero Academia would be produced. The episodes will be available on anime streaming sites (such as Crunchyroll) this Summer 2022.

For those of you who don’t know, June 16 is “Hero Day” in Japan. In celebration of this special day, two original episodes of My Hero Academia will be available for pre-screening in theaters from June 16th to the 19th. The two episodes will be available in only 10 movie theaters in Japan and those details will be announced at a later date.

A poster visual for the two special episodes has been revealed:

The title of episode 1 has been revealed as My Hero Academia: Hero League Baseball. The original story is about a group of baseball-loving pro heroes who form Hero League Baseball.

The Gang Orca-led Orcas and the Shishido-led Lionels are both aiming for the top spot this season. Both teams realize that in order to win they’re going to need some help and decide to contact the students at U.A. for support.

There is a “special rule” that allows players to show off their individuality by using their quirks in creative ways while playing baseball. Get ready to see your favorite heroes dressed up in baseball uniforms!

Fans are already speculating about what team the eternal rivals Bakugo and Deku will be on. In the poster, visual Kirishima is obviously on Team Orca, which suggests that his best friend Bakugo is on his team.

This would mean that Deku is probably on Team Lionel. Fans are looking forward to seeing Bakugo make exploding baseballs with his quirk. Others are saying Deku’s fastball is going to be something to look out for.

If Bakugo and Deku don’t get to play baseball fans will be very disappointed. Who will you be rooting for, the Orcas or the Lionels? Make sure to let us know in the comments below!

Some My Hero Academia baseball-themed fan art has already sprung up in anticipation of the special episode.

The second episode will not be a continuation of the first but rather a completely new original story as well. The second episode’s story, title, and visual will be announced at a later date by Shueisha.

These two episodes are supposed to hold fans over until the My Hero Academia Season 6 release date coming up in Fall 2022.

In April 2016, the anime’s first 13-episode season premiered. In April 2017, a 25-episode season premiered. In April 2018, a third season premiered and ran for 25 episodes. In October 2019, a fourth season premiered and ran for 25 episodes. In August 2020, a two-episode original video anime for the franchise streamed in Japan and Funimation and Crunchyroll also streamed the special episodes. In March 2021, the 5th season premiered and ran for 25 episodes.
