Netflix’s One Piece account released a video to commemorate the birthday of the One Piece main Character Luffy.
One Piece is currently telling the tale of the War for Wano Arc, wherein Luffy leads the charge with his Straw Hat Pirates against the evil Kaido and his Beast Pirates. However, Eiichiro Oda‘s Shonen series has some other major projects in the works.
Netflix is presently working on the first live-action version of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Iñaki Godoy, the young actor scheduled to play Luffy, has produced a new video to help commemorate the birthday of the Shonen hero. Also, The Shonen hero is vying to become the pirate king.
The Official Netflix One Piece account featured the young actor who will play Luffy.
He commemorates the Straw Hat Captain’s birthday by uploading a video with fans. He also offers fans a taste of what his take on the beloved Shonen hero would be as development on the Netflix original series continues:
Happy birthday to the future Pirate King, Monkey D. Luffy! Today we’re celebrating the adventures and dreams of Straw Hats everywhere. What are some of your dreams? #LuffysBirthdayNetflix pic.twitter.com/tDl0JJGrnP
A premiere date for this new live-action version has yet to be announced. However, fans have been concerned about the series’ durability following the demise of Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop.
Even though the live-action version of Cowboy Bebop was shelved after one season, the streaming service is pressing forward with live-action adaptations of others. They include Avatar The Last Airbender, Mobile Suit: Gundam, and Yu Yu Hakusho, to mention a few.
One Piece is one of the best-selling manga of all time, yet its impact is difficult to quantify. Also, millions of readers across the world have been influenced by the series.
From the anime to the manga, Luffy is becoming a symbol of action and a hero. And while Netflix develops its live-action adaptation of One Piece, fans are waiting with bated breath.
Along with Godoy, the new Netflix series has cast several Straw Hat Pirates. This includes Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Emily Rudd as Nami. Morgan Davies as Koby, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, McKinley Belcher III as Arlong, Jeff Ward as Buggy, Ilia Isorelys Paulino as Alvida, Vincent Regan as Garp, and Peter Gadiot as Red-Haired Shanks round out the cast.
Followers are crossing their fingers that the adaptation will be able to come close to its original material when all is said and done, with the series seeking to recreate the early tales of One Piece.
