The finale to the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series sees the titular Jedi Master wearing a costume that comes straight from Star Wars comics.
The following contains spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi Part VI, now streaming on Disney+.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi finale sees the titular Jedi Master donning a costume familiar to Star Wars comics fans.
In the final scenes of Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi finale, Obi-Wan wears a costume featuring a long white robe, a brown sash and a pair of goggles hanging around his neck. Fans on Reddit were quick to notice that the outfit is similar to what Obi-Wan Kenobi is seen wearing in Marvel’s Star Wars #15. Mike Mayhew’s cover art for Star Wars #15 also sees Obi-Wan dressed in white and brown clothing with a pair of goggles around his neck, along with his lightsaber and other utilities attached to his Jedi belt.
The costume further resembles an Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Figure, which is part of Sideshow’s Star Wars Mythos series. “The Obi-Wan Kenobi Sixth Scale Star Wars Figure captures the period in the Jedi’s life as envisioned prior to A New Hope, following Revenge of the Sith,” a description for the figure reads. “He features a detailed likeness as imagined by Sideshow artists to represent an aged Ben Kenobi who has witnessed the destruction of the Jedi Order at the hands of the Empire. Obi-Wan comes with a unique, tailored fabric costume featuring his Jedi tunic with tabards, pants, and sash, his Jedi belt, a sleeveless robe, and a nomad pack that he carries with him across the wastes of Tatooine. The figure comes with 3 sets of hands including force hands, fists, and grip hands, as well as an additional right trigger hand for a variety of action poses.”
Star Wars #15 comes from writer Jason Aaron, artist Mayhew and letterer Chris Eliopoulos. Released on Jan. 20, 2016, the issue takes place during Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine following the events of A New Hope. The synopsis reads, “FROM THE JOURNALS OF OBI-WAN KENOBI. Another tale of Obi-Wan’s exile on Tatooine! Owen Lars took Luke in…but he refused to let Ben be part of his life. Why? What trouble could have been stirred up by Ben protecting Luke?”
Obi-Wan Kenobi follows the Jedi Master as he deals with the ramifications and guilt of his former padawan, Anakin Skywalker, turning to the dark side and becoming Darth Vader. Ten years into his exile on Tatooine, Obi-Wan has no choice but to come out of hiding when a young Princess Leia is kidnapped by bounty hunters. Rescuing her forces Obi-Wan to encounter the Inquisitors, who are hunting for Jedi across the galaxy, and Darth Vader.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.
