One Piece Netflix director gives production update for 2022 live-action TV episodes

One of One Piece‘s Netflix directors has released an update on the production of the anticipated One Piece live-action TV show.

One Piece has established itself as one of the anime industry’s most successful series. It will soon be released on Netflix in a whole new medium. If you didn’t actually know, the creator Eiichiro Oda is collaborating with Netflix on a live-action adaptation of One Piece.

So far, 10 episodes have been commissioned. It will be developed by Tomorrow Studios and publisher Shueisha, the same companies that brought you the Netflix version of Cowboy Bebop.

Filming on the project has already begun, and one of its directors has now provided a significant update on the series.

Marc Jobst drew the attention of One Piece fans on Twitter when he tweeted a unique homage to the anime series. The episode director and executive producer have apparently completed their work on One Piece’s Netflix production. They commemorated their labor with a series of images taken on location in South Africa. Jobst was all love for the Straw Hat team.

Farewell South Africa. Land of sunshine, hard work, little creatures that visit each day, and mountains that every day took my breath away. Thank you to the incredibly talented crew that help bring this show to life.

Jobst is pleased with One Piece, as you can see above. Apparently, his job is far from done. The director must still bring the episodes that he oversaw to the editing room floor. Jobst is now managing two episodes of One Piece.

This is according to Netflix, although that number might change. The show’s other directors have been kept under wraps, leaving Jobst to deal with all of the viewers’ questions. Netizens are growing increasingly impatient to see the Straw Hat team in action as One Piece continues to film. If some final edits are authorized shortly, Netflix could have something to show off at its big June presentation.

Over 1,000 chapters and 95 volumes of One Piece have been released. This is since its debut in an issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997, and the manga is currently running. One Piece is also one of the most popular manga series of all time. One Piece has outsold titles such as Naruto and Dragon Ball.

The live-action One Piece has yet to get an official release date from Netflix. The digital platform, however, posted a statement from the series’ author Eiichiro Oda on its official Twitter account.

The update suggests that effort is being made toward a Netflix One Piece release date: “It’ll take a bit more time to get this show done, but we’ll continue to do our best to deliver a show that we’re confident will be enjoyed by everyone around the world! Look forward to more updates in the future!”

Production Weekly stated in January 2022 that the live-action One Piece will begin production in the spring/summer of this year. The location is slated to be in South Africa. Showrunner Steven Maeda teased the start of the production of the show with a snapshot towards the end of that month:

The Day of the Beginning…

On February 1, 2022, Netflix also announced that filming on the live-action One Piece series had begun.

A pirate ship was seen on the set of the series in January 2022, and it seems to be “Miss Love Duck.” This is a warship with a gigantic duck head on the top and is being controlled by the villain Alvida.

She is the first big adversary Luffy encounters in the manga series, and it appears that she will be introduced in the anime.
