A cryptic post from a well-reputed leaker of the Pokémon games possibly hints at Pokémon Scarlet/Violet having more creatures than previous entries.
A confusing post from a trusted leaker may suggest that the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games will have more creatures than previous installments.
The leak was posted to Twitter on June 19 by user @Riddler_Khu, known for their leaks regarding the Pokémon games. @Riddler_Khu’s Twitter account is private; however, Reddit user DaddyClickbait was thoughtful enough to screenshot the post. In it, a treasure trove of gold items can be seen with a series of text overlaid that all start with the word “key” and end in various unclear words or numbers, with a mysterious sentence at the image’s bottom reading “Puppy will receive her punishment in the next teaser, stay tuned.” One of the more notable hints was “108,” which led several fans to speculate this would be the total number of new Pokémon added to the games. If true, this would be one of the most significant influxes of new Pokémon from a generation, with only Gens I, III and V eclipsing it.
Followers of the Twitter account were quick to start hypothesizing about all the clues. “Gen6 = a Pokémon from that region getting a regional form, maybe a binacle line.” A regional form is a concept based on Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection. In this case, some Pokémon of the same species have adapted different features to survive in various regions. This leak isn’t the first from Riddler_Khu, who is infamous as the most reliable leaker of the Pokemon games. Recently, they possibly leaked the final forms of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s starters, as well as details on the Legendaries and other Pokémon. They also excited fans with a possible tease for a time-travel plot, something Pokémon fans predicted based on the few reveals for the game thus far.
The game has been highly anticipated due to its open-world concept, which had been a new theme for the series with the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Information about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s features and lore has been slowly drip-fed since its announcement in February. Some details, however, have led to hype within the community, including excitement over Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s professors, which will be version-specific.
The Pokémon franchise has been a cult classic since the release of the Pokémon Red and Blue games in 1996. The main plot of every release revolves around fictional creatures called Pokémon, which humans can catch and train to battle against other Pokémon. The franchise has adapted to include other media, including a long line of still-running animated TV series and a popular card game. The Pokémon brand is the highest-grossing franchise of all time, earning over $110 billion in revenue and selling over 440 million copies of the game series worldwide.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the ninth generation in the Pokémon games and are expected to launch on November 18 for the Nintendo Switch.
