The third season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime still hasn’t been confirmed yet. We know that a sequel movie is going to be a follow-up to season two and that it will premiere in 2022, but we cannot assume how that is going to influence the production of the anime series. Still, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is a very popular series, and based on all the known facts, a third season is highly probable. We just don’t know when.

The rest of this article is going to bring you all the known and unknown information related to ta potential season three of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. You’re going to find out about its release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, the basic cast information, and much more about this intriguing anime series.

An adaptation into an anime television series was announced on March 9, 2018. Directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi at 8-Bit Animation Studio, with Atsushi Nakayama as an assistant, the anime was written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, Ryōma Ebata adapted the character designs for the animation, Takahiro Kishida did the monster design, and Elements Garden composed the music.

It aired for the first time in Japan between October 2, 2018 and March 26, 2019 on Tokyo MX, BS11 and tvk, and later on MBS. The series was originally announced for twenty-four 24-minute episodes spread across four Blu-ray box sets and eight DVD box sets. It was revealed in January 2018 that the series’ main story would end with the 23rd episode; the 24th episode features an original story written by Fuse that addresses the encounter between Shizu and Diablo.

It is then followed by an additional 25th episode focused on Veldra’s short stories published in the manga volumes. This season largely adapts the first four arcs of the series. A second season was announced for 2020 when the series’ 24th episode screened in Tokyo on March 17, 2019. It was again directed by Atsushi Nakayama at 8-Bit with scripts by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and a soundtrack composed by Elements Garden.

This season was divided into two parts, the first of which was initially scheduled from October 2020 to December 2020 while the second was planned for an April to June 2021 broadcast on Tokyo MX, MBS, BS11, TVA, TVh, TVQ, GYT, GTV; although the production committee had allocated enough time for production, the state of health emergency in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic within the country had a considerable impact on the production schedule, thus the first airings of the two parts were shifted, with the first moving from October 2020 to January 2021, while the second moved from April 2021 to July 2021.

The airing of the season officially started on January 12, 2021 and was aired until September 21, 2021. A transitional episode summarizing the first season while introducing the character of Hinata Sakaguchi aired on January 5.

Bandai Namco Arts announced in March 2020 that the spin-off manga would also be adapted into an anime. This one was directed by Yuji Ikuhara, also at 8-Bit, with assistant director Tsutomu Kasai. They are accompanied by Kotatsumikan for script supervision, Risa Takai and Atsushi Irie as character designers and R・O・N to compose the soundtrack.

Initially scheduled between January 2021 and March 2021, the broadcast of the series also had to be postponed to finally be broadcast from April 6, 2021 to June 22, 2021 on Tokyo MX, MBS, BS11, TVA, TVh, TVQ, GYT, GTV. Crunchyroll has simulcast/streaming rights to the entire franchise worldwide, excluding Asia.

After the airing of the second season’s final episode, it was announced that the series is receiving an anime film. The film is titled That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Guren no Kizuna-hen (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds). The film will premiere in November 2022.

Taking all of this into account, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime‘s future seems very bright, despite there being no publically known plans for a third season. The source works are, as we have said, quite popular, as was the anime series, and the fact that the franchise has a large fanbase, combined with the fact that we have seen a second season relatively recently, makes us very hopeful. In any case, the earliest we could see a potential second season is 2024, but a more realistic scenario is either late 2024 or even 2025, if it even happens.

You now know all the facts and our thoughts related to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3, which means that you’ve probably deduced for yourselves that there is no trailer for the third season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. This is because we do not know whether there will even be a third season of the show, which means that a trailer might not appear at all. But, based on all the information we have, this does not seem like a likely outcome.

As we have said, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is a very likely candidate for a return. The ongoing light novel series still has more material up for adapting and the anime is quite popular as well, enormously so, in fact. Still, we have to wait and see whether there are actual plans for a continuation before we can make a proper prediction. Be that as it may, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is currently on a short break until we get more information on the show’s future.

Taking into account everything we’ve said, a trailer for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is unlikely to come out this year. The earliest we could see a trailer is late 2023, but we would have to get confirmation of a second season sometime during 2022 or early 2023 for that to happen.

At this moment, we do not know which parts of the light novel series are going to be adapted in Season 3. Namely, the first two seasons of the anime adapted only six volumes of the series, which means that there are a lot more chapters to adapt. But, at this moment, we cannot really speculate as to what would be the content of season 3, because we don’t know how much of the plot is going to be adapted in the movie. This is why we have decided to bring you a general overview of the series so you can know what to expect.

Thirty-something Satoru Mikami is an employee and has been happy with his life but would like a girlfriend. His colleague wants to brag about his girlfriend to him. When the two are ambushed, Satoru comes to their aid and is stabbed himself in the process. A computer voice speaks to him, and when he wakes up again, he can’t move or see anything. After a while, Satoru finds that he has been reincarnated as a living blob of slime.

Slowly learning his abilities, he can disintegrate and feed on other beings, acquiring their abilities in the process. He is always advised by the computer voice, giving him answers and analyzing everything. Eventually, he meets the dragon Veldora, who grants him the ability to see. They become friends and go by the common name of Tempest.

Veldora gives the slime the first name Rimuru. Veldora is scary but friendly and helpful to Rimuru. For 300 years, the dragon has been imprisoned in the cave where a heroine’s spell reincarnated Rimuru. Rimuru absorbs him so they can escape together.

Outside, Rimuru finds himself in a world full of goblins, wolves and dwarves. The powerful, talking slime appears as a god to the weak goblins, and Rimuru is ready to help them against the wolves. They recognize the slime’s power when these are defeated and accept Rimuru as their new leader. He names them all, which makes them significantly stronger.

Together they should build a new village and defend themselves against other monsters that have become more active after Veldora’s disappearance. To find help, Rimuru travels to the city of the dwarves with some wolves and goblins. There, Rimuru helps the blacksmith, who has received an impossible task from the king’s minister. When they celebrate together, during which Rimuru, to his delight, meets elves for the first time, an argument ensues with the minister. Eventually, the blacksmith and his friends are banished. They join Rimuru, who has thus gained craftsmen for the new city.

Over time, the village evolves into a city that becomes the capital of a new nation led by Rimuru, who strives to create a land where everyone, be it human or monster, can live together in harmony. But this new nation, which is mainly inhabited by monsters of all kinds, also generates rejection or unwanted interest in many, including various neighboring countries, the church or even individual demon rulers.

Rimuru can win others over to his cause. He uses his technical and scientific knowledge from his previous life to develop resources and further develop society. Due to the existence of magic, no one has found it necessary to research it. In this way, he initiates an industrial revolution and transforms society based on the Japanese model.

As a first step, this leads to a pacified economic area in the west of the continent before the confrontation with the Eastern Empire occurs. All of this takes place in the shadow of an imminent threat. At regular intervals, there is a war between angels and demons, which causes great damage to the world and also to uninvolved parties.

It’s still too early for us to discuss a potential third season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime in terms of cast and characters, simply because we do not know whether there will even be a third season. But, seeing how we know that the series is going to have a more-or-less fixed cast, we really don’t expect to see too many changes in the structure of season three, if it ever happens. Now, the main characters that have appeared in seasons one and two, likely to return for a third season, include:

At this moment, as expected, there is no means of watching That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season three, as there is no season three of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime to watch. The first two seasons were streamed globally by Crunchyroll and Funimation, the two biggest anime players on the Internet, so it is safe to assume that both Crunchyroll and Funimation would stream the third season if it ever happens.

The future of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is, as of this moment, unknown. At this moment, we don’t really know anything about a third season, so whether we’ll be seeing the fourth season or not is still unknown; we know about the upcoming movie sequel, but not about the anime series. The series itself has done well and there is still a lot of material to adapt, which is a good sign for fans of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, but we are going to have to wait and see how the situation with season three evolves to know more about a potential season four, although it is likely.
