The Boys’ Antony Starr Refuses to Watch the ‘Herogasm’ Episode

Antony Starr, who stars as Homelander in The Boys, says he’ll be “fast-forwarding” through the show’s version of the “Herogasm” storyline.

Antony Starr, who plays the murderous supe Homelander in Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, isn’t planning to watch the “Herogasm” episode of the superhero satire series.

In an interview with GQ, the New Zealand actor explained his reservations about watching the adaptation of the infamous comic book storyline. “I know that the fans of the comic were very interested to see that,” Starr said. “I’m kind of a prude, so I think I’m going to fast-forward through that.”

“Herogasm” is the sixth episode of the show’s third season and will be set during a week-long orgy for superheroes. Despite all the superpowered sexual depravity in store, showrunner Eric Kripke previously said the orgy will feature “several genuinely emotional, heartbreaking scenes.”

Starr apparently wasn’t the only one on set who was shocked watching a collection of nude superheroes go at it. Costar Jensen Ackles recently joked that it was a “traumatic experience” for the crew to see so many naked extras. “I was only in it for a couple days of shooting,” added Chace Crawford, who plays The Deep in the series. “But I know Jack [Quaid] and Jensen got scarred. There’s trauma there.”

Unfortunately for Quaid, this won’t be the first time the actor has suffered at the hands of the show’s absurd production design. Along with him taking an accidental beating during the filming of Season 2’s infamous whale scene, the cast also revealed that Quaid became the victim of an inside joke involving his character being covered with various fluids over the course of the series. “There’s a joke that every season, [Quaid is] covered in something,” says Karen Fukuhara, who plays Kimiko Miyashiro in The Boys.

Although it appears Prime Video’s version of “Herogasm” will remain mostly accurate to Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s original source material, fans shouldn’t expect a one-to-one adaptation of the arc. Kripke recently confirmed that one moment from the comic, which featured a sexual encounter between Homelander and Soldier Boy, will not be present in the TV series’ version. “We talked about it. It conflicted with a lot of the other things we were trying to build with Soldier Boy,” Kripke explained. “So, unfortunately, that one had to go.”

The first three episodes of The Boys Season 3 are currently available to stream on Prime Video, with new episodes releasing on Fridays.
