As many anime otaku know, today, May 10 is “Maid Day” in Japan. This is because “May 10” can be read in Japanese as “May-do”.
In commemoration of Maid Day 2022, a 100-second love letter movie has been posted on the official website for the upcoming second anime season of Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid. The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 release date is coming up in the future.
The letter movie features its two main characters – the maid Alice (Ayumi Mano) and Bocchan (Natsuki Hanae). The love letter that Alice writes contains her usual flirtatious banter and teasing of Bocchan but at the end, she states that “a real present will be revealed on May 12″. This could be significant because the latest Volume 12 of the manga is being released on that day, as well.

The Duke of Death and His Maid is a Japanese rom-com manga series by Koharu Inoue. Since October 2017, the manga has been serialized online on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website. As of November 2021, its chapters have been gathered into fourteen tankobon volumes. From July to September 2021 on Tokyo MX, BS11, and ytv an anime adaptation of the manga by J.C. Staff was aired. Fans of the anime will be happy to learn that a second series has been green-lit. Perhaps, we will be getting its release date on May 12?
Yoshinobu Yamakawa is known for doing a good job directing the anime series even though it relied heavily on CGI. Hideki Shirane oversaw the series’ scripts. Michiru Kuwabata was in charge of character design. The series’ music was composed by Gen Okuda and Takeshi Watanabe.
The opening theme song entitled Mangetsu to Silhouette no Yoru (Full Moon and Silhouette’s Night) is sung by Natsuki Hanae and Ayumi Mano. The ending song entitled Nocturne is also sung by Mano.
Outside of Asia, the series has been licensed by Funimation, and following Sony’s acquisition of Crunchyroll the series has been moved there. In Southeast Asia, it has been licensed by Plus Media Network Asia and will air on Aniplus Asia. In Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau the series has been licensed by Medialink and is streaming on their YouTube channel – Ani-One Asia.
The story of The Duke of Death and His Maid centers around the life of a nameless duke who is known only as “The Duke of Death” or “Bocchan”, which is what everyone calls him. He earned that awful namesake due to the fact that he was cursed as a child by a witch to kill whatever (or whoever) he touches. Because of his curse, he was disowned by his family and forced to live in a dilapidated estate in the middle of a forest.
Luckily, the duke isn’t alone in his misery. His butler Rob followed him from the main house after he was fired there for being too old, and his current maid, Alice, sought him out on purpose since they were childhood friends. The only problem with Alice, however, is that she has the tendency to “sexually harass” the duke and tease him mercilessly. After Bocchan and Alice encounter two “witches” they begin to try and find the witch that cursed him so that they can break his curse, and finally be together in a romantic manner.
Alice and Bocchan aren’t the only two people celebrating Maid Day. Anime otaku and cosplayers are posting anime maids or pictures of themselves in maid costumes on Twitter. Make sure to check it out using the appropriate hashtag: #メイドの日
