Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime series whose first season aired from October 3, 2020 to March 27, 2021. The series is based on the manga written by Gege Akutami, and its first season had a total of 24 episodes, with a prequel movie that aired in December 2021. Saying that where you can watch Jujutsu Kaisen online?
Jujutsu Kaisen is available for streaming on Crunchyroll and HBO Max in subbed format, and on Funimation in dubbed format; you can also stream it on the VRV platform. Countries of Southeast Asia, as well as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and India can also stream it via Netflix. Other streaming services don’t have Jujutsu Kaisen on in their libraries.
Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became a global phenomenon and although it only has one season so far, with a prequel anime movie on the way, we expect more seasons and episodes in the near future. In this article, we are going to give you the ultimate guide for watching the anime series online.
As of December 2021, the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series is available on a small number of streaming platforms. The first and best one is, of course, Crunchyroll, but you can also check it out on HBO Max and VRV (which is owned by the same company as Crunchyroll); the series is also available on the Asian iQIYI streaming platform, as well as on Netflix, but only in Southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Funimation also has the series in its library, but Funimation is only for those anime fans that prefer dubbed versions. Other streaming services don’t have Jujutsu Kaisen in their libraries, regardless of country or region.
The upcoming prequel anime movie is not available for streaming at this moment.
Jujutsu Kaisen is actually not available on Netflix, unless you’re in one specific region, in which case you’re actually able to stream the show. The only places in which you can stream Jujutsu Kaisen on Netflix are Southeast Asia, India, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, where the show is available in Japanese, with English subtitles. In addition to that, Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Netflix with a regular monthly subscription, meaning no premium subscription is required.
It might be a little disappointing that a leading network like Netflix didn’t make Jujutsu Kaisen available for streaming in every country in the world. We assume that it has to do something with the licensing and distribution rights, but we cannot be sure that that is the actual reason.
As far as the future of the series is concerned, seeing how Netflix is working on expanding its anime roster, it is very possible that Jujutsu Kaisen will be made available in more countries, but that is something that we do not know at this moment, which means that we’ll just have to wait for a confirmation.
Netflix is doing a great job in providing its subscribers with great streaming content, but it does have some restrictions. So if you live in a country with geographic restrictions, you may not be able to watch Jujutsu Kaisen on Netflix even with a full subscription. And yes, in case you were wondering, you can check directly on Netflix to see if your country is geographically restricted.
If you live in a geographically restricted country, you will not be able to watch Jujutsu Kaisen unless you change your location. However, read on to find out where you can watch all episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen no matter where you are.
All 24 episodes of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series are available for streaming on Crunchyroll with English subtitles. Crunchyroll currently has all of the episodes that have aired as of the time of writing this article and we’ll have to wait and see whether the movie will be available on the platform as well.
So, if you want to watch all of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime episodes, Crunchyroll is your best option if you ask us.
Disney+ does not offer any Jujutsu Kaisen content, which is, as you probably know by now, not surprising as Disney+ is generally very conservative when original content created by other studios is concerned, and anime is not just that, it is also direct competition for Disney, who takes pride in its original animated content.
However, if you prefer Western animation and maybe some other anime series (although the offer is quite limited), Disney+ offers quite a few of them.
One of these animated series is The Simpsons, which is still very popular with 33 seasons as of December 2021. Some other similar shows, both animated and live-action, that might attract your attention include Gravity Falls, The Mighty Ducks, and the Star Wars series, including the very popular The Mandalorian.
Jujutsu Kaisen is fully available on Funimation in dubbed format for all fans to enjoy. Whether that’ll be the case with the movie, we don’t know at this moment.
One major issue with Funimation is that it is not available around the world, so even if you could stream the complete Jujutsu Kaisen series, you’d only be able to access it from a limited number of countries.
Jujutsu Kaisen is not available for streaming on Hulu, neither the subbed, nor the dubbed version of the show. Hulu is not one of the major players in the world of streaming, but nonetheless, it has a solid anime library, which is why it’s a bummer that Jujutsu Kaisen is not in it.
Hulu is a streaming service that primarily offers live-action shows and movies, but, as we have said, there’s also a lot of anime, although Jujutsu Kaisen is, unfortunately, not among the anime in Hulu’s library. Another big issue is that Hulu is not available around the world so there are certain restrictions if you don’t live in the United States.
As you can see, Hulu is not a good place to look for Jujutsu Kaisen, as it doesn’t have it in its library, but it wouldn’t be your best pick even if it had it, since the location restrictions on Hulu are large and if you’re a non-US fan, you’d have a lot of trouble with Hulu.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available for watching on HBO Max. HBO Max is, alongside Netflix and Amazon, the largest anime provider in the West (not counting Crunchyroll, of course, which is a specialized site and doesn’t have anything other than anime), so it’s really great news for its subscribers that the whole show is available for streaming globally.
In addition to that, if you actually do have a free trial or ongoing subscription to HBO Max, you can also watch other great anime shows, some of which are true classics that need to be watched regardless of whether you’re a fan or not.
Luckily, HBO Max has a truly great anime library so fans will definitely find something for themselves if they want to explore other shows aside from Jujutsu Kaisen. Some other great anime on HBO Max include Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death Note, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Re:ZERO.
Jujutsu Kaisen still isn’t available for streaming on Amazon Prime. This is somewhat strange because Amazon Prime has a solid slate of anime on its service, but it seems that Jujutsu Kaisen isn’t on it at this moment. This, sadly, also includes Amazon’s non-Prime pay-per-view library, which means that you cannot rent or buy the individual Jujutsu Kaisen episodes as well.
Now, as we have said above, what surprised us the most is the fact that Amazon doesn’t even offer the anime episodes for purchase, as it does with a lot of other shows via its pay-per-view model (for example, One Piece or Black Clover). Such series cannot be streamed, but you can buy each episode individually and then own them, so you can watch them anytime you want.
One advantage of the rent or buy option on Amazon is the lack of restriction, either in time or location. Anywhere in the world, you can buy any available season or episode of a show, which is a good thing since some streaming services don’t offer their full slate for all countries. Once rented, you have only a limited amount of time to watch each episode for the same price, whereas with a purchased copy, you have unlimited time.
But, sadly, none of this applies to Jujutsu Kaisen, whether you’re an Amazon Prime member or not.
We all know by now that most streaming platforms offer their content for a certain subscription, or, in Amazon’s case, via a specific pay-per-view model. Now, there are, luckily for us all, some completely legal streaming services that allow us to watch anime content for free, although not necessarily in an unlimited amount and for an unlimited time.
The best known among them is, of course, Crunchyroll, which offers the whole show completely free of charge, the subbed version. Since Crunchyroll is the only place where you can stream the show legally from almost any country (aside from HBO Max, although this platform is also limited), it’s also great that it’s actually free.
Other services do offer Jujutsu Kaisen for uses from a lot of countries, but they are not free to use, so you have to pay for the videos themselves or for a subscription fee.
